The game of soccer is fundamentally and significantly flawed. The main symptom of this that an inferior team can gain a result way too frequently. The correlation between superior play and scoring is not strong enough.

If I were a dictatorial FIFA president, here is what I would do to fix:

1. 8 players per side.
2. Field shortened accordingly. Keep the width.

Evaluate for a year then change more if needed.

And a bunch of changes to stupid rules, such as not necessarily a penalty kick awarded for a dubious hand ball called at the edge if the penalty area. Just a direct free kick at the spot of the foul.

I've played and watched soccer for 33 years.
