I have consistently stated my position when an athlete has character issues/legal problems: highly talented athletes deserve as many chances as are needed. Marginally talented athletes (or worse) should be held accountable and made to be examples to highly talented athletes to show what happens if you don't stay in the tier of top talent.
BYU Athletes are held to the highest standard regardless of talent level, unless they become former BYU players. In that case, see above.
