Could Taysom have run up better stats last year in a read-option attack. Perhaps--although he had certainly lost a step, which limited his effectiveness in that system compared with years past. This would also have opened him up to injury at a greater rate.

The mental reps and ability to prep in a pro style system are probably helping Taysom more right now than having greater stats last year would have done. He would have still had the injury history attached to him, and pro scouts would have looked at the types of throws he was completing, reads he had to make, etc. rather than just his raw completion percentage.

Taysom got to pick his team and take a year of pro-style experience with him. I think he's better off with the year under Detmer.
