- Front loaded schedules
- Years like 2018 with killer road schedules
- Rarely do we get our tune up game against an FCS team to start the season
- Cupcakes at the end of the sched, with no conference championship title or CCG to play for
BYU has schedule problems that NO other team on our level has to deal with. I hate when people say stuff like, "just win baby". For BYU to just win, is harder than almost any other team to "just win". Utah gets to start their season with a cupcake in ND, then play a good team in BYU, then get another win against SJSU. They then get a healthy dose of average/good/great teams on the road and at home. If they lose to a good or great team, thats ok. They can afford a loss or two and still be in a conf race.
We have it much harder than Utah in that sense.
Houston/Boise/USF etc can schedule a win or two, and still play a nice OOC game or two against P5s. Memphis put on a show against UCLA, now they get to chase a conference title game that could lead to an NY6 game. Houston beat Arizona, and gets another P5 in Texas Tech. Even if they lose, they still get the CCG race game to play.
We have it much harder than Houston/Boise/Memphis/USF in that sense.
BYU is in a very tough spot, and I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel that some of you see with Independance. BBall has struggled since moving, football recruiting has struggled. I'm on record saying I don't want to go back to the MWC, though I would be very interested in a deal with the AAC. That said, BYU is in a very tough spot. They are a P5 program that isn't allowed to sit at the table for political reasons. It sucks.
