I think 4x16. Makes so much sense for a built in playoff.

Win your 8 team division. Play for the conference championship. 4 conference champions play. Could be done with 12 as well. Two 6 team conferences.

I think there would be too much politics to knock it down to 48 teams.

The one problem with all of his is if this truly gets set in place college football will truly be a semi-pro league.
