I live in Texas and so there aren't many people within realistic dating range on the app. I've gone on a few dates through it with people outside my ward that have been fun, but haven't gone anywhere because of the distance.
Matched with a girl from here who was living in NYC and met up when she came home to visit her family. Went to NYC for a weekend. Spent the summer in different Midwest cities doing med school rotations and it was a way to try and find girls to date when I was only in the area for a few weeks. I'm going home to Utah for the weekend soon and have matched with people in my hometown who are open to going out while I'm there.
If I was in Utah, Phoenix, or Southern California or somewhere else with a lot of members, I imagine it'd be a pretty awesome tool to expand your options and meet more people you wouldn't normally meet. I'm only 27, but starting residency soon and expecting to be in a Midwest city with a small-ish YSA so trying to explore all my options before those 80+hr work weeks.
