If we could have had some great corner talent and been able to press a bit more Bronco's defense would have been a riot.
But a player had to be very smart, disciplined, and have experience in the system in order for it to be effective. When we were forced to play people who weren't ready, we got exposed big time.
It was a great system for a team that was basically admitting we can't compete recruiting/talent-wise, so we'll build a scheme to cover-up what we are lacking.
It seems to me that Kalani is aspiring to be more than that, both in the recruiting aspect, and in having a simpler system that allows greater athletic ability get on the field sooner. It's a gamble.
Based on last year's results I thought we were just a few players away from being a great program that could do that. After watching this year unfold, I'm not so sure.
