Even if somebody is feeding him info, NOBODY has good info in these situations. Until all the presidents of the various
universities get into a room and actually vote to invite somebody to their conference, there really isn't much to know. Some folks may be privy to preliminary discussions/rumors/whatever and they think they've got real inside info. The reality is that they know next to nothing. Example: maybe somebody has a family member who has seen legal paperwork between a school, like BYU, and a conference, like the Big12. That gets reported as inside info. Sounds amazing, right? But it's not. It's almost meaningless. All the legal docs in the world can lay all the groundwork to an invitation possible, but it won't mean a thing until the presidents get together and vote. And only those individuals know how they'll vote. Even if we had Tom Holmoe telling us every little thing he knows about any of these situations, we'll still be largely clueless.

So, it's possible MHver3 thinks he's providing real info, but it's just the nature of this sort of thing that it's impossible for even the very best "sources" to know what's really going to happen. In this particular situation, he's mostly just speculating, as we all are, about what the future shape of things might be. I wouldn't pay any attention at all to any specific piece of info he or anyone else might offer.
