is, for now, the best option. He's not a good option, just the best available right now. Critchlow is available and is the current backup, but he's a true freshman just off his mission and probably isn't really ready for big playing time. I wouldn't mind if they yanked Tanner and started Critchlow, but we shouldn't really expect much from him in the way of improvement over Tanner. Next season, I expect we'll have a different starting QB. If Hoge is ready to go next year, it will likely be him. If not, let Critchlow, Tanner, and Wilstead fight it out. Tanner will have a very tough time gaining the coaches' confidence ever again, though, so I'm guessing it will either be Hoge (if he's able to continue his career) or Critchlow.
