TY Detmer to QB coach, RB Recruiting Needs a Change

Kalani needs to stay, he is a great recruiter and a Players Coach, he just trusted those under him in critical positions a little too much.  Bronco and Edwards used to talk about TRUST a lot especially in the case of players and the players responded.  I do think that BRONCO's emphasis on the LB position was important and the 3 - 4 defense can be a much better defense at times than a 4 - 3.  The coaches just need to understand the dynamics of the game better during the game.

East Carolina made adjustments during half time that attack BYU's defense, BYU needs an OC that knows howto read a DEFENSE, what plays to run and what personnel to run them with. It can't be a guessing game. The OC also needs to understand how to attack defenses in critical situations.  Putting KAFENZIS in at a critical time seem contrary to ones better judgment when the current personnel were moving the football down the field.

Don't misunderstand me, DETMER is very good, but he was preparing players to play at the NFL level, not the college level and I think that was hurting the team and he may have been to ridged in his thinking and style of play.

I think it was very critical time when BYU played UTAH STATE to put in another QB like CRITCHLOW to test the waters and I think even one of the biggest mistake this ooaching staff made was their use of RILEY BURT.

i remember coaching a team where I got to know the players abilites and how they could best help the team.  On one occasion a parent (former U of U player) was yelling while the play was happening saying " that will never work" , well we scored a touch down on the play and he was somewhat embarrassed.  I had less experience than he did as a player, but I new that if I got this player ONE on One, he could out run anyone.  The play happen to be a swing pass to a player out in the flat. Now I know that BURT has dropped the ball, but when HIFO drop the ball they never gave up on him and when TOLUTAU fumbled the ball they never gave up on him.
