In any way realize how painful the backlash or ripple effect might be on the family or player or close friends for years to come. It feels so sad to me that at times of hurt or anger people say and do things for dramatic effect and there are unintended victims or collateral damage from lashing out.
This is one of the reasons i despise much of journalism today, because they have no conscience whatsover capitalizing on human pride or anger or feeling an injustice has been committed to get a juicy story out. The trib seems to take this approach to an all time low when it comes to the Church or BYU or BYU sports. They scrounge thru the sewer or vulnerable or unsophisticated or immature family members to find their dirt. And once they have what they deem as adequate ammunition, they blast away not caring what damage they cause.
An institution with high ideals and standards with imperfect people is a delicious and inviting target, with much low hanging fruit that would be relatively insignificant in almost any other organization or environment. If what they do destroys the families from whom their stories were extracted from, no matter, they take no responsibility for the damage....they got their story and desired clicks. I find this a disgusting and detestable business to be in no matter how people can rationalize it away. After all, its much easier to tear something down than to build it, that's why human nature draws us to a large building demolition or auto accident or tragic killings. The trib knows this and capitalizes on this morbid fascination.
