I dunno, shoplifting and theft are not things that they usually let slide in
China, with just a few days of house arrest, in my experience (lived there for 3+ years). Normally there would be a trial, or at least a plea bargain resulting in jail time and fines. What happened with the UCLA players is highly unusual, IMO.
