I had to explain to my son that kept saying it’s just a game, that you play sports to win. You work to win because you set goals. That the problem with the current generation is they think that just participating is sufficient. He tried saying the problem with the past generation is we think there has to be winner. My counter to that was that the passive attitude is why the government is able to get away with so much garbage. At that point he started to think a little harder.
His attitude is really odd too, because at his soccer games he goes all out. He’ll ask me what I thought he did well and where I thought he could improve. From now on I think I’ll just tell him I’m glad he’s out there running around on the grass with other kids.
