BYU71 All-American
The foundation for this has been being laid for quite a while
It started way back when the powers that be decided they could run a football program and athletic department better than LaVelle and Tuckett. Yes the same Tuckett that after being forced to retire was hired as interim AD at Alabama to help them through problems they were having in 1995.

When they did the big money raising effort for the indoor facilities, I mistook that for a real committment to athletics and especially football. I look back and what do you have to lose when all the money comes from donations. Even money in escrow for maintenance throught the life of the facilities.

We were unlucky with Crowton. In hind sight, we were lucky with Bronco. Even Bronco realized what Kyle did when he turned down the job. BYU wasn't going to do what is necessary to get to the elite level.

Way to much power is given to the A.D. and coaches at the elite level for BYU to do. Can you imagine an approval at BYU buying out a coaches contract for $12 million.

If a big hit comes to the general fund at BYU, perhaps things will be looked at differently.

For now if you don't want frustration to rule your world, consider BYU to be a step above most teams in the MWC and on par with the top tier. Be dissapointed with this year as we didn't beat teams we normally should. However, unless the attitude changes above the AD's pay grade, your living a dream if you think we will consistently be a 9-10 win team, even with average teams on the schedule.

Those that doubt and thinks the specialness of BYU will lift us to the upper level, are probably the same people who think if you pay your tithing you will become rich.
