Wouldn’t that become the trend with every other kind of debt?
And yet it’s not true. Very few people rack up debt planning to file bankruptcy later.

When student loans were dischargeable there was still a requirement to make a good-faith effort to repay the loan. The law required 84 months of payment (forbearance and deferment months not included) before the student loan debt could be discharged.
