It’s probably the same as mine if you made a similar suggestion about my culture
You do realize that in Tonga there are doctors, hospitals, banks, a government, etc. Who do you think works there? They might look and operate a little different than the ones where you live but that’s not neccesarilly a bad thing.

To me it’s almost offensive to suggest that their upbringing on an island doesn’t set them up for success at BYU. For starters your measure for success might be totally bogus. What is success to you might be misery and failure to someone else.

2nd point I could introduce you to Tongan and poly doctors that I personally know. University of Hawaii has a medical school, a business school, an accounting degree. Who do you think is getting those degrees?

Even go to BYU or Utah or Oregon or any of the Cali schools and look at the nationalities of who is graduating. It’s a broad group.
What I’m suggesting is that you stop looking at people and judging them based on their nationality. Realize that every nationality has the entire spectrum of different types of people lots of them.

Honestly I’d be embarrassed to show your takes to the people you’re talking about. Even if it’s to ask them how they feel about it.
