In my book they are two distinct topics and don't have too much relation to each other. Of there is some cross-over but I see people citing this years failures as a reason to join the MWC.

In my opinion this year's team stinks because of coaching and injuries. Independence has much less to do with the 4-9 record than the other issues. So we can't use this year as the main reason to go back to a G5 conference. There are plenty of valid reasons to go back to G5, just don't use this season's record as the main argument.

This year we would have stunk it up in any conference. Nothing was going to change that.
