I rushed to post Conner's profile yesterday before I had the chance to talk to him. He did respond to messages today and told me the following about his recruitment to the Y (also added to:

When I asked him "why the Cougars" his response was "I feel BYU best fits my personality, and for the sense of family." He noted that he has the goal of "one day becoming the starting QB" and helping "get our program back to where it belongs." I love that he is already talking in "we's" and "ours", showing his commitment to the program. He also told me that he is "fully committed and will not entertain [offers from] any other schools." His parting words were "let cougarfans know I will give them 110% on and off field."
Nice kid. He messaged me to point out that I was calling him by the wrong last name ("Cooper" instead of "Conner") and was kind enough to answer a few questions. His tape is not overly impressive but he did play well within the top classification in Texas football, and that is saying something. While I'm sure he hopes to come in and compete for the starting job right away I think a year or two here to bulk up and learn the system will do him good. And at 6'5" there is a lot of potential upside. Could end up being a very nice pickup.
