When Bronco was hired as HC...

Wasn't he told basically the day of the press announcement that he was hired? He had to go through all the interviews and stuff... but wasn't he told the day of the press announcement, and thus the joke of why his wife didn't have time to change out of a RED dress she wore to the announcement?
