I'm not saying fans should not be optimistic. I'm just reminded of how fast fans
change their minds and believe the solution is the new guy. The optimism was incredible for Sitake until we turned against him in year 2. The hype was huge for Detmer for 1 year. The off season hype for Taysom was huge until we realized he wasn't super human and fans couldn't figure out why Detmer didn't start Mangum. The off season hype was huge for Mangum until we wanted his backup. Now I'm seeing the hype train going for Grimes. It seems silly. Why not try some realistic expectations. Like, boy I sure cant wait the 3 year results that Grimes will hopefully be able to produce once he gets his offense and recruits and staff built.

Nope right out of the gate, it's things like, now if we can just get a defensive coordinator that's as good as Grimes well be set. To me it looks like we're on the path of impatience/always looking to find a new person to fix our program. I'm already worried that he won't live up to these expectations that we've set for him on day 1. Actually Day 1 isn't for a few more weeks. Is anybody really saying to themselves I sure hope to see some real good results from Grimes in 2019? That's realistic.

What we seems to do is build our expectations so high that we don't give a person time to show us if they can or can't get the job done. Or maybe Sitake, Detmer, Taysom, Mangum, were the exceptions to the rule.

Over promise and under deliver, that's what I feel like we're doing to ourselves. It's not a recipe for success. That's what I find a little wrong. I like the optimism but I sure hope it comes with a realistic expectation. To me under promise and over deliver is the correct way for fans to feel with new hires.
