in the last quarter century, and just two total in that timeframe (both by USC). Here they are this year, shut out of the playoff yet again. In the last three seasons, the Pac-12 has one playoff appearance, and that was 4th seeded Washington in 2016.
In the other major sport, basketball, the Pac-12 has one Final Four appearance as a conference in the last 9 seasons. Since expanding to 12 teams six seasons ago, the Pac-12 has averaged the fewest NCAA bids per member of the Big 6 basketball leagues. In 2012, they became the first major conference to have their regular season champion left out of the NCAA tournament in 60 years. Add to that 2 of the 4 schools being investigated by the FBI hail from the Pac-12, and you have justified nervousness on the basketball front. They are clearly the "6th" of the "Big 6" in basketball.
