My funny Jimmer Fredette story...
Not really a college football post, per se, but here goes...

I grew up in the Stake where he now lives (Albany, NY). I still have family living there. I have a nephew who was a pretty good HS basketball player. Had some offers to play PG for small Div III schools in Upstate NY. Nothing amazing, but a good solid player - he graduated from BYU last year. I was back visiting my sister a few years ago, and went with my nephew to a Church basketball game. His team was sure to win the Stake - they had four kids on their team that'd played varsity ball. Their whole team was made up of 17 & 18 year-old players. no one in the Stake was going to be able to compete with them. That day they were scheduled to play Glens Falls Ward.

When they got there, Glens Falls only had four players. Instead of forfeiting, they asked if it would be okay if an eleven year old played. My nephew's team was certainly not worried about letting Glens Falls play with an 11-year-old. So they agreed...

They should've taken the forfeit. 11-year-olf Jimmer Fredette his SEVEN three point shots - all set shots becasue he wasn't strong enough to actually shoot a jump-shot from behind the three-point arc. Some of the shots were from 5 or 6 feet from OUTSIDE the 3-point arc - where no one in his right mind would worry about guarding him. Glens Falls Ward beat the "certain to win" Glenville Ward by 2...

6 or 7 years later, my nephew feels a little better about the whole thing, knowing that the 11-year-old is going to play for BYU...
