This is all a joke, right?
This has to be the most moronic, short-sighted "analysis" I've ever seen from a Y. fan regarding Utah sports.

Frankly, I could care less what the local media thinks. The same "media" that gives us Maji and the program "unfavorable coverage" is the same media that cracks on the Cougs, ie, Monson and talk radio. It exists everywhere -- one cranky columnist and buzzards of sports talk radio. Big deal.

Nationally, the media loves Utah and Big Rick, and as long as that's the case, when Maji steps down, we'll have 2 dozen legit D-1 coaching prospects and established ones begging for an interview. For everything BYU did in the 1970s through early 1990s, you settled on a JC coach. We are high profile, and a 3 column photo of Britton in today's L.A. Times hoops page signifies that.

Rebuild? I'm sorry, but that word doesn't exist in the lexicon that is Utah basketball ... certainly not in the Y. sense of 5-6 years, which is how long Cleve's rebuilding project has been in effect. Criminey, next to Y. hoops, the I-15 project was completed in a week. And Maji won't leave or be fired when we're en route to 1-25.

Comparing Majerus/Utah to Tark/UNLV is silly. Vegas was nothing in hoops before Tark arrived. Utah hoops still had a run of successful appearances in the tournament long before Maji came on board. Jerry Pimm coached at UC-Santa Barbara and got them to the tournament; Jack Gardner's in the friggin' Hall of Fame.

I can't believe I've even responded to this post. I've got stuff around the house to take care of ...
