Is this allowed under the rules of golf?
I’ve been reviewing some rules this year that I am not sure about in preparation for this season and I came across this video.

The last rule is interesting. From what I understand, they are saying if you were to hit a putt or say a really bad chip that leaves your ball way farther from the hole than you started then you always have the option to take a stroke and just replay the same chip or putt. Is that right? I’ve just never done that but I’ve definitely skulled a chip over a green into a bunker. I’ve always just played the ball as it lies. I would definitely be better off just taking the stroke and replaying the chip. Am I understanding this rule right?
