have ever had at a sporting event. The Nuggets are playing the Grizzlies who are missing half of their roster and jumped to an early 20 point lead and cruised to an easy victory. But about mid way through the 1st quarter I hear some random guy sitting in the row behind me and two or three to my left about how we are winning easily because Memphis is playing like BYU. He is specifically pointing out a white guy named LaRavia and I figured he somehow thought he went to BYU or something. A guy right behind him was annoyed and asked him if we went to BYU or what his deal was that he was so obsessed.

That is when I stood up and noticed he was wearing a Boise St polo. I ignored it for awhile but my 12 year old son kept asking me why he kept saying BYU and how Memphis sucks like BYU. So I stood up and told him he must be the most obsessed person with BYU that I have met in my life. I then asked him if he knew he was at a Nuggets game (which drew a laugh from my friends around us as I am a season ticket holder and know most of the people around us but he had bought someone else's tickets). He then tried to explain to me that BYU sucks and I asked him something to the effect of if they suck worse than Boise St. It is then that it clicked to him that I was a BYU fan and he started spouting off about how Boise St has a winning record against BYU. I told him I wouldn't know as Boise St is not exactly at the top of the list of memorable teams we have played. He got really mad and spouted that he really just hates Mormons. He was quite drunk. I said it was good to see that bigotry was still alive and well and his wife made him quit talking.

For the rest of the 2nd quarter his wife was begging him not to say anything. They left at half time and didn't return.

Have you ever had an experience like this? I mean I was at a Nuggets game and a Boise St fan (who we didn't play at all this year) starts yelling about how the other team sucks because they are playing like BYU (he mentioned BYU at least 20 times)? Especially when there is no connection to BYU whatsoever at the game?

I am not sure I handled it the best, I tried at first to ignore it but it got to the point it was too annoying and I didn't want to hear it anymore (nor did my son). I just thought it was crazy, the deep seeded hate this guy had for BYU.
