SPOILERS - I didn't hate it, but I left with so many questions, which made it
an "ok" movie for me.

Spoiler alert, so don't read ahead if you haven't seen it.

- Why fight with swords when you have lasers that can cut through metal ships in a second?
- Some of the military tactics were really dumb. They never thought of bombarding the fremen rocks before? Also, they don't have any anti-missile defenses in this universe? The emperor decides to bring his entire army with him and then promptly puts them all out on display where they can easily be killed with missiles or the all powerful laser? But no, because they have to fight with swords and shields that only seem to work when convenient, they do this.
- They land and put all of their military on the ground when for their entire existence they've known about the dangers of sand worms.
- The fremen have been battling house harkenan for 80 something years and it takes a kid from another planet to come in and quickly - like, very quickly - teach/lead the fremen to victory over what is supposedly an incredibly powerful house/army? They didn't learn a thing in that 80 years?
- In one scene where they ambush a spice harverster - they run around and fight against harkenan troops while a copter thing mows them down. They then struggle for a bit to take it down with a rocket launcher. Then, once that happens, some dude high up on a sand dune shoots a mega laser at the spice harvester and boom, it's dead. My question - why not start with the mega laser first? No need to do anything else. The mega laser can take down the copter and the harvester and apparently everything else ever built.
- You build up the elvis character into some monster fighter and then he dies as quickly as he comes on screen. Also, main character gets stabbed twice and he has the monty python just a scratch response. This introduction and demise were really rushed in my opinion.
- You make the drax character into some mega bad guy and then neuter him in the second movie. I'm actually ok with that approach, but they really turned him into a weakling. He runs out to battle, sees a skinny kid coming toward him in the dust, and then runs away. That was pretty much his only "aggressive' move in the entire movie - after he led the short battle that essentially killed the entire house atradies in the first movie.
- All of the houses don't fall in line, so the answer is for all of the fremen - who have never been off world and likely have no idea how to fly a spaceship - board the spaceships to go and attack all the other houses? They know nothing about their enemies and their home worlds, not to mention how to fly a spaceship.

The movie was really good, and the battle scenes very good. But the first 2/3 of the movie was a slow burn, but good, and then the battles at the end were really rushed. And all the questions.

I really liked the first Dune movie and was really excited to watch Dune II.

I know my spelling is off.
