If you're looking to get a really good deal on an older hybrid... and you don't mind using a Saturday to replace the battery pack, a lot of cars can be done DIY these days and you can buy direct battery replacements from aftermarket companies that make as good if not better replacement batteries than the manufacturer.

Went this route for my daughter's first car, a Lexus HS250h. Bought it for 8k (MSRP of 46k). I can put in the replacement battery when it dies for 2,250.
