11 teams.
There had previously been 64 P-5 schools, plus Notre Dame equals 65. Add BYU, Cincinnati, C. Florida, Houston, and now SMU. That equals 70.

You had me at relegation. That would be so cool

Oh dang, it’s not real relegation. But how cool would that be to have your rival

I like it. Relegation for only the peasant schools I don’t care about. BYU with power status forever.

Relegation would suck because I'm confident it would happen to BYU more than it should

You would be at risk of relegation right out of the gate.

Especially when BYU wouldn't be in danger of it

They're following the blueprint from the formation of the English Premier League

Nobody knows what that is. This is an original creation. An American invention.

Nope, not unique to Americans...

What other 9 teams would you want in BYU's division?

SDSU. So close, but yet, so far.

Seems like this might be BYU's best shot

This is the most rational thing I have ever seen discussed related to CFB. Up

It's great - but no way the SEC and B1G are giving up their power

My thoughts exactly. Everyone will agree until they discuss money.

Could keep the money if they can earn it my putting two teams in each conference

Do this and re-do regional rivalries/conferences...benefits everyone except SEC.

It says the former power 5. Are we sure that includes byu? Otherwise would they
ColonelMustard
Apr 3, 5:00pm
We were technically part of the power 5 for a year, SMU was not.

It says 70 teams. Go count them up and come back to us.

Why would the SEC and big 10 divide their consolidation of power and money….they wouldn’t.

I don’t believe this will happen. Low incentive from sec and big10 imo

If it does move forward, I bet the protected group will be smaller than 70 teams
