The rider must be able to adjust to movement in two different directions at the same time. The bulls head goes down as the bull jumps up and forward. All the rider can hold on with is his one hand gripping the bull rope. The other arm/hand must be totally free at all time. If it touches the bull the rider is disqualified. The bulls weight about a ton. The riders usually only weigh about 150 pounds. The 2000 pound thrust against a 150 pound rider is almost impossible for the rider to deal with.
