Correct. Both Gifford Nielsen and Brent Nielsen turn 70 this year...
And were released (effective August 1st) and granted emeritus status.
The 8 turning 70 this year are:
---Elder Ardern
---Elder Bowen--Already spoke in this conference.
---Elder Paul V. Johnson--Released from Presidency of the 70, given emeritus status, but called as new SS General President.
---Elder Gifford Nielsen--Gave a Prayer.
---Elder Brent Nielsen--Spoke.
---Elder Ochoa--Gave a Prayer.
---Elder Sabin
---Elder Schmutz
I suspect in this afternoon's session Elders Ardern, Sabin, and Schmutz will either give prayers or speak. It's good to have them all participate in their last conference as general authorities. Elder Johnson is a unique situation since he'll be an emeritus GA, but will transition into becoming a general officer of the Church as the SS Gen Pres.
