Not sure who cares, but movies I saw over the last couple of months; One Life, Cabrini, Dune 2, Ordinary Angels-& ranked
How I rank them and why
1-One Life—this is the best movie I’ve seen in awhile. Moving story and well told. Solid acting and cinematography.
2-Ordinary Angels—Similar to above regarding the story and acting. Only knock was they tried too hard and too often to make the outcome seem impossible. Alan Ritchson is a blossoming star and Hilary Swank is one of the best actresses of our time.
3–Dune 2–Epic story and cinematography. But a couple of my pet peeves. 1. Don't cast the current star as the protagonist when he just doesn’t fit the role. Sorry, he was amazing in Wonka, but seriously, this mighty warrior and leader? Bwahaha-dude is a total soy boy and as believable as Paul Atreides as Tom Cruise was as Jack Reacher. But I love Josh Brolin and he was great. 2. Seriously, I just can’t get the stretch combining advanced societies with star ships, interplanetary travel, advanced weaponry, etc. yet almost 100% of fighting is hand to hand combat. That reach is just too far.
4–Cabrini—Don't believe rotten tomatoes on this one. Just because a story is amazing and true, doesn’t make for a good movie. Snooze fest for long stretches. They tried to make every needed outcome seem hopeless and if it’s possible to over-do the cinematography, they succeeded.
Prior I saw Wonka and really enjoyed that. I don’t include it in the rankings because it’s not fresh enough in my mind. But I do remember thinking that they did a wonderful job at making the character Wonka as likable as any character I can recall. Now that was the right role for Timothée Chalamet.😉
