a lot of Cougar Nation was down on Coach Pope, he had come off a sub par year. He was not landing big time recruits, and last years finds in the portal had not come to fruition. Fast forward a year, and he over achieved, and is now moving on to bigger and more lucrative pastures. With that, looking at the pool, it becomes fairly obvious that Burgess and Madsen, are the two most likely candidates for the job. I don't see either of them as lifers either, if they were to be successful enough to be wanted for that amount of time. Coaches who want in on the fast track of coaching, are not the best guys to go after. I would rather see us find someone who is a hoops guy, but more than that a BYU guy. But I know of no one that meets that criteria. A lot of CBers made fun of USU's coach departing and leaving their cupboard bare, and now we are looking at the same scenario. So if I am the guy picking, I lean Lee Cummard, because he is a Cougar, he loves living in Utah County, doesn't appear to be driven solely by money. Team mates that played with him, view him as the one of the best if not the best they ever had. Would love to see him be given a chance. Madsen and Burgess more ready, but they probably move on just like Pope.
