I can't believe Pope's gone. I thought he wanted to build something special.
money will come and go in life and then all you have left is your legacy. You either built a legacy or you didn't in life. Lavell's legacy can never be tarnished. He stayed and built everything he could. Legacy is everything. money will be forgotten. The money he was earning at BYU was not chump change. The problem with getting exactly what you think you want is the demand to produce for the money he is getting leaves no mercy on the table for the bad years. When he gets fired or run out of town, he will be just another coach, boucing from one gig to another. He will never be able to have the legacy he could have had if he had stayed a cougar and built a great program here like he claimed he was committed to do.
Good luck in Kentucky, they already hate him there, or are mystified at the hire of a coach that has 0 conference championships and 0 tournament wins. Have fun with that. BYU may have a demanding passionate fan base but we are nothing like what he will find in Kentucky. Good luck coach.
