At the first sign of headwinds, out come the jokes that Tom is aloof, hanging out unconcerned at a family reunion somewhere, or on the internet buying accessories for his next Halloween costume. Or that he is in his office weeping or panicking. Or any other number of idiotic takes, like somehow he failed us for not keeping Mark Pope in Provo, or can pay but won't, or runs an old boys network in the athletic department.

This is the guy who led us through independence, pivoted on Covid to get us on the field, and led us successfully into a P5 conference. He has probably outworked every other AD in D1 over the last decade. But yeah, he is for sure some lazy dolt who apparently doesn't have a cell phone that works, doesn't have any plan for what to do next, or is just plain dumb.
