Conventional wisdom said if rates were raised
That would cool the real estate market and prices would go down…


Instead, prices went up. Economists replied it might be a temporary spike lasting on the order of months, then a recession would come and put downward pressure on prices.


We’re still waiting for that recession, years later, which doesn’t appear on the horizon.


Economists don’t know what prices will do when rates come down.
