I feel like he did a good job while at BYU of describing a vision of something or description of something in a super optimistic way that got me excited.
Some examples -
1-after we held on to beat UCF after they scored like 30 points in last minute he talked about how we withstood something heroic that would never happen again
2-talking up Aly Khalifa early in the season - can remember “How many guys can have 8 assists and 2 turnovers and their assist -turnover ratio GOES DOWN?
3-talking about Sunday preparation being so important for the team
During Q&A I felt like his answers were flat and didn’t do the same thing. It shocked me.
Best example - he was given a total softball question of what his pitch to a recruit to come play for him would be. What an opportunity to get that pitch out there immediately.
Instead, I felt like he basically said, “Because it is Kentucky and Kentucky is awesome.”
He’s got to feel a lot of pressure and I wonder if that impacted how he responded. But I was anticipating a well put together sales pitch throughout the conference and while there were moments, it wasn’t near what I was expecting based on what I heard from him at BYU.
