Great. Let's complain about him 5 months before the season. Also,
it depends on how you rank a coach. In my ranking — based on solely on Ws and Ls I see him as a good coach.

Elite Coaches: 10-12 win seasons
Great Coaches: 8-10 win seasons
Good Coaches: 6-8 win seasons
Average Coaches: 4-6 win seasons
Below Average Coaches: 3-6 win season

Kalani and crew have done many things right and struggled with other aspects of the game. He has had moments of brilliants (wins at WI, Boise State, ASU, uu and Arkansas...), but has had head scratchers against ISU, TCU, and the second halves of KU, OSU and OU. Good coaches win more games than they lose.

Coaches don't play the games, so mistakes are going to be made that lead can lead to losses. Also, the other team has a say whether a team wins or not (it isn't easy to win games).

Note: Because circumstances change during the season (injuries, player mistakes, SOS, weather....), there will be an overlap of wins and losses in the 'ranking system'. There will also be a range.
