glue/role guy actually makes more sense to me. Pope will need a few of those guys to blend with the one and done 5 start recruits. If that is what Chandler wants to be he could be successful. If he is expecting to be one and done off his mission it is highly unlikely. He would have been a bench player at BYU this year with a bigger role the next year. At UK trying to come back from a mission with 5 star recruits will be interesting. Each year there is always a chance a better recruit comes into the program. This was somewhat the story with Frank Jackson. He was coming back for his soph year and then Duke signed a better recruit so he left early for the NBA even though he wasn't ready and not a 1st round pick. It worked out ok, he made good money and played a few seasons but not much of a bball career. He could have been a legend at BYU. The openness of the Portal makes moves much easier but my guess is Chandler comes back to Utah as a solid but insignificant payer in 2 years.
When Pope came from UVU he brought their best players. Only 1 ever contributed the first year. As has been discussed, Pope is quick to move on to the new shiny thing as soon as he can. Pope was plan G for UK so he is going to have a short leash.
