BYU/Smith/donors didn't drop this much coin on KYoung just to lose out on NIL.
I think we'll always try to make our dollars count, and there are some absurdities out there in the NIL world that we shouldn't attempt to replicate.

But, you don't make an investment like this coaching staff (I'm just assuming more good news is coming on that front), only to handcuff yourself with the inability to be competitive with individual player recruitment and NIL dollars.

It took us a little bit to get off the starting line in the NIL era, and that could be due to our institution's conservative nature or just the delayed arrival of Big12 funds to the larger athletic budget. It may have even been a bit of hesitation on the part of big boosters if there was a whiff that coach Pope was transient to some degree.

But, in addition to what the arrival of Kevin Young means to his position specifically, it is a huge beacon that says we are committing dollars where they are needed to make this program something special. What a great thing to see!
