I've been on Cougarboard for 20+ years and during this time I've learned to walk away immediately following negative news at our favorite University (as it has been shown to increase my Happiness Quotient)....

So with this introduction I give you my two cents on this recent situation dealing with BYU BBall: first of all has anyone in the history of NCAA Men's B-ball coaching had a more meteoric rise through the ranks of head coaching with fewer actual on court accomplishments? Help me understand... does he have any conference championships, any conference tourney championships, and any actual NCAA tourney wins? I didn't do any hardcore review, but I think the answer rhymes with our previous coaches' last name...NOPE. So it appears he was building something good....fun to watch, but ultimately hollow results.

Do I begrudge Pope grabbing for the bag? Nope....has he handled his departure well....probably not, but he'll have to live with the results. I kinda don't care what happens with Mark Pope going forward. I'm not a Pope fan because I've dealt with a ton of people who manipulate situations for their own benefit. He's proven to be successful on this front....

I hope that Kevin Young can do what's necessary to take the next step forward for BYU B-ball. I'm cautiously optimistic. Go Cougs!
