Back in my day, we were worried BYU wouldn't pay Mark Madsen $3 Million to coach BYU, so he stayed at Cal-Berkeley.

I just want to publicly admit I gotta eat crow. I assumed BYU had zero chance at landing Mark Madsen because they would not pay for a top notch coach, and $1.5 - $2 million per year was the limit. With Madsen buyout around $7 million and $3 million a year, that is a $22 million dollar 5 year contract. KY just got a $30 million 7 year contract. . . I was wrong. . . BYU (and donors) are willing to pay a lot more than I thought.
