Buyer's remorse with Pope maybe was a catalyst to be ready to move on quickly at next chance. Pope did just enough to
keep from being fired (2022-2023) 5th place in WCC maybe closest he came, but he was such a PR hound he bought himself time a little more time, then exceeded expectations in Big12 inaugural season finishing with his post season flop again. Paralyzing that into a blueblood gig is still kinda laughable, but hey, the stars lined up for him
