I don’t understand why making this open to the public would be “classless” or how not doing it is “taking the high road”.
The fans are excited about this hire and I think involving them would be a good thing. We are up from Arizona visiting our son in Sandy and when I heard about the meeting in the MC, started coordinating with friends in the area to meet them there with my wife.
We attended Education Week at BYU last Summer and Tom Holmoe gave a presentation that was standing room only and overflowed into other rooms. Sure, it was the Varsity Theater, not the MC, but I think there would be plenty of fan support for something like this.
Now, if it is a logistics thing on such short notice, that’s another thing. But I disagree that it would be classless to do this.
