I think 8 Kentucky guys are in portal, 5 Duke guys, like 8 from Arizona, so byu
Is far from being the only ones dealing with major roster turnover, it’s now the norm.
Also imo it is generally a bad thing for fans if there is massive turnover every season as guys jump to biggest NIL deals, it’s also probably bad for the quality of the oncourt product because so many teams are trying to adjust to an influx of new guys. I also wonder if it’s bad for teamwork - how many guys are stat hunting in hope that it gets them a bigger deal next offseason?
College sports isn’t in a good place at the moment, I’m not suggesting NIL goes away and they go back to “amateurs” but finding some way to avoid coaches having to recruit new teams every year and assure some continuity would be a major positive in my mind. NBA and NFL don’t allow free agency every year, hopefully college sports can find some mechanism to prevent it, I don’t like what it is now.
