It is dumb. It's a relic of the Vietnam era at BYU when Ernest Wilkinson didn't
want his students looking like the hippie war protesters at Berkeley, etc. That era has long since past, and still the tradition has gone on.

I get that we are a “unique people” but why are so many complaining about KY having to remove his beard?

CBers are weird about beards. We mock ute fans for their goatees, then we complain that BYU has a no beard policy.
