players in the league, your McDavids, Matthews, etc. Are making something like 10-12 million a year. The league minimum is like 750k. There are a lot of guys making 1-4 million. Good money for sure, but not NBA, NFL, or MLB money. Not even close. Plus, your average person is not going to recognize hockey players in public unless they are specifically fans of the team or hockey in general. There are no Labron James or Travis Kelce type figures in hockey that are famous apart from their sports. All this adds up to a league that is way more grounded and I think takes a kind of pride in being more down to earth.
