Commented on this earlier - none?
So, I commented on this in earlier post and re-share it here:

It was interesting to listen to Tom Holmoe talk directly about the contract issue when asked about it in his interview with BYU SportsNation. He said, quote, that he's never talked about contract details before, and never will - but that the university made what they felt was a good offer and they got a good deal in place.

I've listened to a fair amount of commentary over the last few days by folks in the media who are gob-smacked by the alleged contract amount with Coach Young - BUT, no one has said, I have definitive details on this from a couple of sources. Or, if they did, I missed it. I think there's a lot of speculation about it but the details might be different than are being alleged. I think, clearly, it's a historic contract offer for BYU, but the details have not been released to anyone that I have seen.

Also, it's been said a lot that Ryan Smith is behind it all. Hmmm. He's a great guy. But, BYU doesn't seem to be a place where "boosters run the show." They make a difference, but they don't run the show. I don't think BYU would put itself in a position to have the head coach be funded primarily by a booster - I think it would be done by the institution, so they could have control as the institution. Just makes good sense. And, as others have pointed out, BYU has financial resources coming into the athletics area due to Big 12 funds (expanding in the future) and added basketball revenue that they could definitely put to work in this hire.

Will be interesting to see what further information, if any, emerges in the future.
