That's strange - I've actually run with some Paiutes.
The tribe in Cedar City has a coming-of-age ceremony they do with their young men (those who choose to participate) that includes a run of around 12-13 miles or so, and I got to participate one year as a mentor for the young men running.
It was pretty cool.
