If that's the case, doesn't the school have to be involved in the negotiations?

I mean - if the player is being told they have to stay at the school to get paid, then there better be some assurance that the school is going to keep the player on the team. This could make scholarship multi-year guarantees along with multi-year NIL guarantees in contracts.
