Doesn't BYU alumni have a huge professional network, especially for athletes?
So while a guy like Saunders may stand to make a bit more money at place like UK, his role there as stated above, would likely diminish as bigger talent would likely come in and displace him down the roster there. At BYU he'd be more likely to continue to develop into more of a star role, generated a bit more NIL from that for himself and his family, and by finishing his degree at BYU, would be a legend in the hearts of cougar fans and have much more networking ops among the BYU alumni base. I would think there'd be better long term value in that if a career in basketball were not to work out. But what do I know. There may well be just as much of a network among UK alumni, but would he be as well known there if he doesn't get much of a big role on UK's team, especially if they don't have all that much success if Pope's first year or two there as he works to build back up that program.
